Today did not start well at all.

We knew the city had park-an-ride so we searched for one near a mill we wanted to see and found one on Chesil street. I imagined the old park and ride in a field . This was a busy multi storey, difficult to access and with 'coins only ' or 'Ringo' payment. We had no coins and Ringo doesn't accept overseas addresses and we left very frustrated for a further out park and ride. Open space but so close to a motorway entrance you could so easily miss it. Then that was coins only or Ringo for the bus and I was getting over the whole trip, but other sympathetic passengers said to talk the driver. We did and the driver 'gave us ' the coins but then we had to miss that bus while we got the blessed ticket!

Then a 20 minute ride to town.

King Alfred  (the Great) looms large  in the history of this area. He is credited with having restored the Anglo Saxon nature of  England after waves of Viking invasions.

we returned to the cr park and set off for Locks Heath and our nephew and family
