A new kayak and Oak Park Beach

Following a sad story of unfortunate coincidences, we lost both of our double kayaks--a real blow --especially our long-standing (well, long-floating, anyway) red kayak, much used for day trips on the Hacking.

We found  a secondhand one owned by a kayak designer (HYBRID) extraordinaire and brought it home last night. We tried it first thing this morning on a short trip to check it all out. It was fine and has the advantage of being manageable on the car roof. I admit to missing the 'chair' type seat but it was a luxury really.

In the meantime, I received an email saying one of the two 'lost' kayaks had been discovered--the more recent orange one--so now we have two again and both are car mountable (but probably not at the same time.)

I will add the link to the HYBRID website on my pages on front page and this blog concludes with Oak Park yesterday--just for you snow-bound europeans!!

For those who looked recently--the stranded boat has been floated off--leaving it's white-paint  hull marks on our rocks.
