A Road Trip
We planned a three day circular tip from Tuesday, passing round Goulburn to Cowra. On arrival we visited the Japanese Gardens before checking into our Motel.
The gardens were established as a gesture of peace between Australia and Japan because Cowra was the site of an Australian POW camp housing hundreds of Japanese soldiers, many of whom died in a break-out attempt. The small museum there holds 'Bride Dolls'-gifts for the deceased soldiers who never had the chance to marry. Looking at the fierce faces on some of the dolls, or their weapons, if they represent Japanese girls, I'm not sure the soldiers would have been so keen to get back home!
There were also some lizards sunning themselves.
More pics to follow.
