A long weekend starting yesterday, visiting cousin Margaret and then Michael, Kris and Lachie in their new rental home at Merewether, near Newcastle. We were going to take Margaret to lunch but she had very generously prepared a lunch for us. She looked very well after her recent hospital experiences.

Our last full day and we decided on an easier day, with a walk to Rainbow Lake. Some early rain and 50kph wind had subsided when we set off. I have always dismissed doing this short (4.0km) walk but it turned out to be a scenic gem. A short
