The Sutherland Shire Choral Society performed works by Rutter and Holst today, to a large and appreciative audience.

I was nominated for a Community Award by a friend and the ceremony took place in a large auditorium in Sutherland this morning, with 34 other awardees. There was a huge range of volunteer activities covered, schools, Lions' clubs, Masons, churches, disability support, infant mortality, medical research etc etc.

Recently our 'New Horizons' band performed at John Paul Village. It was a very enjoyable occasion for us and we think the audience liked it too!

Each year the band does the BBQ for a big bike rally at Loftus. I was on 'eggs' and worked solidly for nearly two hours, slaving over a hot BBQ in my new 'Bear Grills' apron.

Our friend Florence, from the Ardeche, joined us for a short trip from Grays Point to Audley. Although it was a lovely day, there were no motorised craft and the river was very peaceful.

Today we collected the new Prijon Piave and within a couple of hours began a test paddle. Mary pronounced the result as excellent, so that was a relief! It is certainly the lowest weight kayak we have ever had and was stable and very comfortable, with convenient hatches and easy

Yesterday I ordered a new double, lightweight kayak--a Prijon Piave, which should arrive in a week or so. In the meantime, Mary and I used the ACE river double and paddled, in excellent weather, from Water Street ramp, down Burraneer Bay, up to Warnambool, for a snack with a
