Fishing attempt

Friend Matt--ever hopeful to make a fisherman out of me--we arranged a paddle on a day forecast to be 34 Deg C.

We set off from Tonkin Oval, Cronulla  at 10.30am and were blown to Darook park, our intended fishing spot, a river cruise boat passing us on the way.

A strong wind sprang up and we sheltered round the corner at Salmon Haul Beach.

By the time we decided to head back the wind (against us) had reached about 60kms/hr and return was impossible.

So we beached and had to carry the kayaks up several flights of steps to the road.

Once there, two young people arrived by car and I was bold enough to ask for a lift back to Cronulla--which they generously agreed to, saving a long walk to collect the car.

We returned late-with no fish!
