Gunnamatta to Cabbage Tree Creek

Gunnamatta to Cabbage Tree Creek

It's all kayaking these days!

Our Probus kayak group paddled the 13km trip Gunnamatta bay to very end of Cabbage Tree Creek on Friday.

We have to get under a narrow footbridge to enter the basin and the tide runs swiftly through there, so we literally shot in alright but struggled on return. Just a degree or two off dead centre or not in river dead centre and the current forces to kayak sideways and turns you round.  Bit exciting.

The pics are of the very shallow entrance from the sea to leading to the footbridge, the very  end of the creek (very blocked by fallen decaying trees) and our 'cake break' just after getting back under the bridge.

There are a number of dead mangrove trees in the area--probably environmental damage of some sort. We need all the mangroves we can grow as protection from Tsunami waves, if they ever hit.
