Koszciusco at last!

Finally got round to it!

We drove to overpopulated Thredbo and took the chair lift to Thredbo top where is the well known Eagle Nest cafe.

From there it's a 13+ km round trip to the highest mountain Australia, last seen by us six years ago. We'd left the timing a bit tight as the last lift down is 4.00pm and we had just four and half hours to do it.

We were blessed with fine, cool weather and very good walking poles. Amazing views all round. Just at the last track junction -Rawson's Pass, Mary decided that at her pace, with a sore leg, we weren't going to make it.

So I powered on and virtually sprinted the last 900 mtrs to the top to find people queuing round the trig point , like bees, so I got someone to take a pic of me near it and dashed back. The poles helped enormously.

We made it back with about 20 mins to spare Whew!

It was then we realised just how over-commercialised Thredbo is. Ski hotels and cars crammed in everwhere. First we couldn't find the car, then couldn't find a toilet, then an open cafe so we ended up eating a piece of stale pizza from the night before and drove to Jindabyne 30 kms away and found an Italian restaurant, as there was no chef again at our 'hotel'!
