Maianbar with Stuart
Stuart bought my red sea kayak and today we paddled on an ebbing tide, via the 'new route' to The Basin and looked for the cut-off point of the creek that was closed by sand drift. After finding it , Stuart trekked across some bushland and some front gardens to the coffee shop for some takeaway coffees, while I moved the kayaks down-creek to avoid getting left high and dry (well damp) on the sand.
The return trip was interesting in that we coped with Pacific swell in the bay, breaking waves, outgoing fast tide and finally a headwind.
We noticed major 'die-back' in the mangrove swamp areas but also some healthy new growth. Not sure what caused that.
