Mount Stillwell and Sawpit Creek

Hard to believe it's six years since we were here.

The walk to Mt Stillwell (2077mts) was really scenic --panoramic views of 360 Deg at the top.

Mary spotted an Alpine funnel web spider on the track --nasty things when roused.

Just as we got back there was a quick downpour, but we sheltered in the toilet  entrance and met again all the people we'd spoken to en route and said goodbye to!

Straight from there we drove to Sawpit Creek and did an almost 7.0km walk through some lovely woods of varying tree types, plus fire ravaged trees, to a waterfall in full spate and returned on the other bank --though you couldn't see the banks for trees, as they say.

On final return, we found the hotel chef wasn't there, but the 'gap year' student working there, from Queensland (who really wanted to be in Europe) made everyone meat pizzas, oh--but there was no meat, so it was mushroom meat pizzas and did her best, very cheerfully and didn't seem flustered. Two glasses of cab sav  put Mary right(!).

Tomorrow it's the ski lift from Thredbo to mountain top for the walk down 'Dead Horse Gap' !! Either that or  walk from the ski lift top to Mt Koszciusko, Australia's highest mountain at 2229 mts
