Woolooware Bay
Having accidentally come across a gap in the mangroves bordering Woolooware bay, I used it to explore a region previously unknown to me, 6 minutes from our house!
What looked like a big bunch of expensive moored yachts, turned out to be all decaying hulks--a veritable graveyard of burned, dilapidated, sinking, abandoned vessels of many shapes and sizes, including a Naval catamaran, which I just HAD to paddle in between the hulls.
This scene , combined with an older industrial and equally dilapidated foreshore, made the whole scene look like the set for an Australian 'film noir' of drug trafficking gone wrong with shadowy underworld figures and bent cops about to show up any minute and interrogate me.
I had hoped to enjoy it more but if I use the access point again, it will be to beetle over it fast to another location.
Even the one smart looking boat had sort of shadowy Asian signage on it.
There is a pic of the 'Sharkies' building development from the water and of the Council foreshore development plan for public access--so things may improve.
