Yesterday our Rovers and Venturer leader took part in a ceremony marking collaboration between Aboriginals and the new settlers, following 1788. This took place at the point where captain Cook first landed--very close to our suburb. The international word for a scout 'Jamboree' is an Aboriginal word.

Yesterday I was invited to join a few leaders and scouts , one of whom (Ronan) is completing his scout Medallion, doing his social service component of the award. He had collected 50 blankets, to be handed to homeless people via the Sydney Exodus Foundation in Ashfield. There are pics of

After such nice weather, it turned cold and wet for the annual ANZAC dawn services on the coast here. People here are examining the dozens of donated books for schools, wreaths etc, following the service itself, attended by hundreds of local residents. The main speech was given by a soldier

Today we kayaked with Valentina to Audley. Mary used a single kayak and found it worked well. We met the Lassaunière family at the riverside with their baby Roman. On return we saw Frank and his grandaughters picnicking by the river. Cousin John and wife Penny arrived in the afternoon

On Thursday april 10th our Bundeena band played at the RSL club, where I performed a short impromptu jazz solo (first time ever!). On the Saturday morning we collected a young Italian lady, Valentina, from a house where she was au pair to a somewhat unfriendly S. American family.
