This annual District Scout and Guide event attracts almost 1000 members for a weekend of competitive camping, sailing, land races, Roman Ballista construction, paddle boarding, canoeing and wind-surfing, at a nearby beach.The scouts had a lot of fun! Today we awarded QSA badges to five of our 10 Venturer scouts who have achieved this award. The ceremony took place in excellent weather in our scout hall and grounds. Proceedings finished off with a cake! Thanks to Hawk for taking these pics for me.

When a Venture Scout reaches 18 years they can be invested as a trainee Rover Scout or 'Squire'. The tradition is based on the code of chivalry of medieval knights of St George and the motto of Rover Scouts is 'Service to the community'. Right now

A beautiful day to explore the route to Mainbar - but only at high tide. The depth at the main ramp at Mainbar is ridiculously low. A half hour paddle and I found the café at Mainbar, had a chat with the locals and a coffee, then headed back. The pics

One of many services held across the country, the Cronulla march started at 5.00am accompanied by hundreds of local residents, stopping at the war memorial for a brilliant speech by a WWII RAAF officer who survived four years as a Lancaster bomber pilot over Europe and later in Vietnam.

Today about 15 of our own scouts (the pic with Kooka lying on the ground!) plus others left on a coach for Maryborough, Queensland for the Jamboree, for two weeks. There were many excited scouts and many over-anxious parents.
